How to create ice candy business in the philippines.

Many flavors to choose from!

In this segment of another business prospect here in the Philippines, I have found a lucrative business that even my childhood self would drool to do, and since it is SUMMER, I think this would be a COOL business at this season here in the Philippines.

(If you haven’t read my eBook about business here in the Philippines yet, go ahead and start looking it up for a successful business or career that you could own or do here in the philippines even as an expat or foreigner)

Now, for some foreigners or expats, this particular treat is foreign. But it is not that uncommon even abroad… this treat is called “Ice Candy” here in the Philippines.

It is an ice treat with flavorings from strawberry, mango, orange, chocolate… etc. This is like fruit juice sticks but frozen. Here in the philippines though, there are twists with this genre of treats (bad rhyming~!). Sometimes they flavor it with real fruit essence and bits such as in mango or strawberry (got a taste before in Baguio)

Now, how can this be a lucrative business? well, if you are still skeptical then go ahead and read this article about an ice candy maker turned MILLIONAIRE by selling what you say?… you guessed it right, ICE CANDIES.

So how to create an ice candy business?

First, you need capital. You could start at even 1,000 Php and that is a lot of ice candies already. The only trick here is to market your ice candies somewhere where a lot of traffic is ongoing (as I have said in my Ebook, traffic is a also must for advertising), usually, people will buy ice candies as an alternative from an expensive commercial or branded ice cream so a good location of establishing this business is rarely within convenience stores but in schools, fresh markets, or any public place that would prefer AFFORDABLE treats/meals.

Though it is also rare that you need a store for this business as a start-up, but often, people start this business at their house or by selling it by peddling (or lako, is what we call it here in the Philippines. )

Later on, if your ice candies were good… hopefully it will be identified by the consumers and the rest would proceed to your own time in success. As I have said on my eBook, Identity will surely take you to places regardless of your business nature. Yes, this business will rely mostly on your capacity to be identified, not by bulk or quantity, but with the quality of your ice candies (or their features such as flavors or so…). So go ahead and use that creative flavor head of yours, only your imagination (and taste buds) would swoon the masses off their feet!

  • 1 3/4  kilos sugar ( you may reduce the sugar according to your taste)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 7 litres water
  • 1 cup powdered milk ( any brand)
  • 2 cups corn starch or cassava starch dissolved in 1.5 litres water
  • 200 or so ice candy wrapper (buy it from a market or store)
  • Add your own creative flavor like: mango, chocolate, pineapple, strawberry, coconut…etc.Procedure:
    1. Put the 7 litres water in a big pot then bring to a boil, add the sugar and salt, then mix well until it is fully dissolved.
    2. Add the dissolved corn starch and powdered milk into the boiling water, stir very well to avoid the lump formation, boil for 8 minutes, then turn off the heat, allow to cool for few hours then add your desired flavor.
    3. Pack in the ice candy wrapper and freeze until frozen.
